Tile Index
Tic Tactic » Devlog
This is a little wiki post detailing all of the tiles in the game, along with their effects and a quick strategy outline. I'll update it as I add new tiles to the game.
There are currently 26 tiles in the game.
How to read:
- Tiles are added to the list in the order that they're added to the game. Naturally, new tiles will be at the bottom of the index.
- Existing tiles may be updated with new features or functionality. These changes will be indicated by an underlined header.
- Italicized headers indicate a special tile or tile class that works differently from other tiles. Read the description for a more clear explanation!
- X
- The base tile, this deals 1 damage when used in a three-in-a-row.
- Strong X
- This tile deals three damage in a TIAR.
- Consistent high-damage source.
- Fire
- When placed on the board, it burns any adjacent tile.
- Very good for directly destroying tiles
- Sniper:
- When placed on the board, it destroys a random enemy tile.
- No real downside to using this tile, assuming it's not the first turn of the match.
- Duplicate
- Randomly spawns an additional tile when placed on the board.
- This tile will only execute if there is space available. Since the effect is random, it helps to set up the board first.
- Thunder
- When placed on the board, it creates a current chaining through all diagonal tiles, destroying any non-thunder tiles in the current.
- Sets of thunder tiles work very well together since they don't destroy one another. They're also great for indirectly destroying sets of tiles, as the electricity will bounce through other tiles.
- Jackpot
- This tile has a 25% chance to deal 5 damage when used in a TIAR.
- The description will update if you've hit the jackpot!
- Shield
- Takes two hits to destroy, including board clears and TIAR.
- This tile performs its ability regardless of board state.
- Rain
- Falls one space at the start of every turn, leaving a droplet behind it.
- Needs open spaces to move into to be able to work.
- Turret
- Fires a tile at an adjacent piece every turn, before rotating to target the next space, either damaging an existing tile or adding a temporary tile to the board.
- Since the ability executes over time, it needs multiple turns to be able to work.
- Stopwatch
- Gains strength while on the board. When used in a TIAR, it deals damage equal to 1 + the number of turns it was on the board for.
- Similarly to the above, the longer you leave it in, the better.
- Bomb
- When destroyed, it explodes and destroys any nearby tiles. This includes board clears and TIAR.
- Great for reckless matching or extra destruction, especially when facing Shield tiles.
- Axe
- Every turn, it moves up one space. If there is a tile present, it destroys the tile before moving up.
- This tile can easily force enemies to take a specific action, since it will move to a new place no matter what.
- Arrow
- When placed, it destroys any tile above or below it, regardless of distance.
- Good for targeted strikes and easier to play than other destructive tiles.
- Earthquake
- When placed, creates a shockwave that drops all nearby tiles down the board.
- Depending on the board state, this tile can cause immediate TIARs... or put you at a disadvantage
- Heal
- This tile restores one health when used in a three-in-a-row.
- Provides a small amount of recovery, but it’s otherwise just a standard X tile.
- Chain
- Links its life with neighboring tiles, sharing positive and negative effects.
- With this tile, you can extend damage across an entire row, steal effects from tiles like the one below, or add insurance against destructive tiles.
- Links its life with neighboring tiles, sharing positive and negative effects.
- Blessing
- When added to the board, it imbues all friendly tiles with +1 damage.
- This effect stacks with any other tile effects, such as the Stopwatch.
- When added to the board, it imbues all friendly tiles with +1 damage.
- Makeshift Tiles: these are single use tiles that you can buy in the capital!
- Power
- The most powerful tile in the game boasting 6 base damage.
- Power
- Shatter
- When destroyed, it splits into up to 4 pieces, spreading into nearby spaces.
- Clear
- Destroys any tiles in the row and column it's placed in.
- Plague
- Gradually infects its surrounding tiles, turning them into plague tiles.
- This tile takes 2 turns to work, but it can rapidly take over the board with its infection effect, making placing tiles a liability.
- Gift
- When used in a combo, randomly spawns an additional Gift tile in an empty space.
- This tile is best used to build momentum, launching from one combo into another. It also triggers for each combo it’s used in.
- Dagger
- Deals 1 damage, plus a critical hit that doubles for every combo it’s used in.
- While this tile is better than a base tile, it really shines in longer combos, as its damage increases exponentially. Use it wisely!
Special Tiles
- Temporary
- An unobtainable tile that disappears after its destroyed.
- This tile is only discovered when it is created by another tile.
- Consumable
- This tile class is removed from your deck after use.
- The consumable tile is a class, so, except in special circumstances, it won't be available to use on its own.
