A little bedside update

I'm writing this update from the comfort of my bed, where I reside as I recover from COVID. Yes, you heard that right: I have contracted Coronavirus in the year 2024. Between this unfortunate virus and a short vacation last weekend (coincidence? I think not.), I have been slightly delayed with the larger update I mentioned in the previous dev log. However, I did update the build and will quickly run through the changes below.

For more complete update notes, check back next week!

The above screenshot highlights two big changes:

  • Reroll: You can now pay a sum to reroll the reward options. Low on health? Then pony up the funds and cross your fingers.
  • Gold: You now gain gold from defeating enemies. The amount is static, but this will change in a future update.

These changes are a precursor to a much larger economy update that is still in the works.

Other changes include:

  • AI has been updated. It will now ramp up more slowly, but the end result will be a smarter AI that actually knows what tile it is planning to play.
  • Tile logic got a slight change. Turn-based tile effects now always execute at the start of the turn, rather than after 2 players use turns.
  • Some visual bugs have been taken care of, including overlapping enemy sprites and full-screen mode.
  • There was a bug that prevented the game from continuing on restart and required a hard reboot (read: refreshing the browser). That has been fixed.
  • Combos! Multiple three-in-a-rows, including those that are created by a tile's destroy effect, are now counted back-to-back.

That's all I have for now! There are other changes, but the mental fog is causing me to forget, so I'll add a description of them in the next update.
